Since 1984, Kate Long has worked as a media writing coach in many parts of the United States and Canada. In a gentle, well-informed manner, she helps writers of any skill level move their writing up to the next level.

Her own print reporting and radio features have won national awards, so she is well-equipped to work with seasoned veterans and editors, as well as beginning reporters.

Media Awards include: UCLA’s Loeb Award for business writing, for a series on the high cost of health care; the Gabriel Award for radio that lifts the human spirit, for a series on West Virginia writers; the National Headliner Award, Best of Show, for a radio feature on Bobby Kennedy in West Virginia; the West Virginia Association Press Enterprise Reporting Award for a series on Medicaid changes that were forcing elderly people off in-home care.
